Suspension Limit Straps — What Serious Builders Actually Run

If you know what a limiting strap is, you already know why you need

Updated: August 2026  ·  Prerunner · UTV · Desert Truck · Rock Crawler · Jeep · Bronco applications

Limit straps aren't a beginner modification. They're a fundamental component of any finished suspension build that sees real droop travel. A stock Tacoma with a two-inch spacer lift doesn't need them. A long-travel prerunner running 18 inches of travel, a Carli-equipped Ram 2500 running desert, or a Can-Am Maverick X3 on the dunes absolutely does. The strap goes between the chassis and the suspension — and its job is to be the last line of defense before your CV axle, brake line, or shock shaft decides to be the hard stop instead.

The physics: At full droop — wheel in a rut, one corner light at speed — your CV axle hits its maximum bind angle, your shock shaft hits its full extension, and your brake line reaches maximum stretch. Without a limit strap, one of those three is your suspension's mechanical stop. With a limit strap set correctly, none of them ever gets there.

Who Actually Runs Limit Straps

The real limit strap market isn't Jeep owners doing overlanding weekend trips. It's builders running serious suspension travel who understand what happens without proper droop control. The core applications:

Prerunner Trucks Long-travel Tacoma, Titan, Tundra, F-150 builds with 12–20+ inches of travel. Limit straps are required — no serious prerunner runs without them.
Desert Racing Trucks SCORE, Best in the Desert, LOORRS class trucks. Professional builds run custom-length straps dialed to the inch for each setup.
UTVs — Long-Travel Can-Am Maverick X3, Polaris RZR Pro XP, Yamaha YXZ. Factory suspension travel on these platforms demands droop protection at full extension.
Rock Crawlers Extreme flex cycles in slow-speed technical terrain. Every flex cycle to full droop without a limit strap risks brake line pull and CV bind.
Sand Rails & Buggies Custom tube chassis with coilover suspension. Limit straps are part of the suspension design — not an afterthought add-on.
Lifted Ram 2500 / F-250 / F-350 Heavy-duty trucks with Carli or similar long-travel lifts. Front droop on a Carli Pintop Ram can exceed 6 inches — limit straps are part of the system.
Jeep Wrangler & Gladiator JK, JL, JT builds with 3.5 inches of lift or more. The IFS crowd and solid axle crowd both need them above moderate lift heights.
Ford Bronco Full-size Bronco with Sasquatch package or aftermarket suspension. The IFS configuration makes CV angle protection especially important at full droop.

The common thread is suspension travel that exceeds what the factory components were designed for. Whether that's a long-travel prerunner, a fully built Can-Am, or a lifted desert truck running Carli hardware — more droop travel than stock means you need something to stop the suspension before your components do it for you.

Bull Strap Suspension Limit Straps

Bull Strap limit straps are manufactured by Bartact in Temecula, California. The webbing is 7,000 lb rated quad-wrap nylon — four independent layers so a single-layer failure doesn't take the whole strap down. The ends are heat-treated 4130 Chromoly steel with 9/16" holes, sized for standard clevis pins and bolt patterns used across Jeep, Toyota, Ram, Super Duty, and UTV suspension mounts. Berry Amendment compliant — 100% USA-made materials and manufacturing.

Bull Strap is an authorized Carli Suspension dealer and carries Carli parts for Ram 2500, Ford F-250, and F-350 builds. Their limit straps are the solution that runs on Kartek-built prerunners, ORW (Off Road Warehouse) suspension setups, Carli-equipped desert trucks, and custom long-travel rigs where flimsy webbing with Chinese hardware isn't an option. These aren't generic Amazon market straps with a different label — they're built by the same people who make Bartact seat covers, grab handles, and MOLLE gear for military and government fleet use.
